Vote Pumpkin This Season!

Some of the staff members at High Meadows Branch Library decorated a pumpkin for this Halloween seasons Pumpkin Decorating Contest. These wonderful and creative pumpkins are out on display in the library and are waiting for your vote! Stop by High Meadows Branch Library and vote for your favorite pumpkin today! Voting will start Monday October 20th during regular library operating hours and end on Saturday October 25th. We will announce the winner of the Pumpkin Decorating contest on Monday October 27th. Writing Contest!

Calling all kids kindergarten through third grade! Enter your story for a chance to win a national contest and have your story published online at pbskids.org/read. If you or someone you know has a child that loves to write and has great stories to tell, have them pick up an application at High Meadows Library. The deadline to apply  is Monday, March 17, 2014. Aldine Teens Place in National Video Contest

Teens PosingThe teens at the Aldine Branch won the online voting portion of the Story Tubes contest for their book trailer for The Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. Out of all the videos submitted, theirs was voted the best by the viewers. Way to go!

Aldine Branch Teens Compete in National Competition

Teens In Front of Blank WallAs you know, the teens of the Aldine Branch Library have been hard at work on many projects. Along with creating digital stories and decorating the Young Adult area of the library, they also became semi-finalists for a national contest sponsored by IdeaPaint! How great is that?!

Watch the video the teens made and cast your vote for the Harris County Public Library. You can vote once a day until December 4th, so don’t wait.

So Nice, We Did It Twice! Trivia Returns to Northwest Library!

Santa LibrarianLast month, the adults of Northwest participated in a library trivia game. We had such a great response, we were asked to host another one. This time is Christmas Trivia. The questions are tough, but we know our adults are very well read! Come on in and fill out the form. You will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous holiday gift basket!
