Sphero BB-8 (Teens)

 

Hey Teens! This Thursday, May 19th, we will be breaking out the Sphero BB-8 from 4:00-6:00 pm! He comes with all the authentic sounds and movements. Anyone who would like to come play with BB-8, meet us in the Teen Area and everyone will get a turn to operate him using our iPad! Recommended for ages 10-17. See you there!

Animal Origami - Story Time

Hey kids! Don't miss Story Time on Thursday, May 12th at 3pm. After the story, we will be making simple animal origami in the Jacinto City Library meeting room. Create your own animal from a variety of patterns to take home! Recommended for ages 4 and up. May the Fourth Be With You -Teen Event

Calling all Stars Wars fanatics! Come to the library on Wednesday, May 4th at 3:30 pm to celebrate May the Fourth Be With You.  We will be making light sabers to take home and watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens (rated PG-13) on the big screen in the meeting room.  All materials will be provided- but limited!  Recommended for ages 10-17. Nutrition and Healthy Eating Class

On Thursday, April 28 at 6 pm, we will be having a free nutrition class, Healthy Eating Habits, conducted by the Harris Health System about how to improve healthy eating habits for you and your family. 1 on 1 Help for Digital Devices

Do you have a tablet or smartphone you're having trouble operating? Or maybe you want to learn more about the apps on your phone. This month we will be having two 1 on 1 sessions, Friday, April 15th and 29th between 3:00 and 5:00 pm, first come, first serve digital help for your devices here at the library! Blackout Poetry Week

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? And that 2016 marks its 20th anniversary? To celebrate, the Jacinto City Library is dedicating Library Week, Mon, April 11 - Sat, April 16, to Blackout Poetry. We will have free materials out all day for anyone who would like to express themselves through poetry and display their work. Or you may bring your own materials and poetry if you choose. Special Storytime - "April Showers Bring May Flowers"

 Next Thursday, April 7th at 3 pm at the Jacinto City Library meeting room. We will be reading "The Tiny Seed" and "My Garden." After the stories, we will help you plant your own flower seeds to take home and grow!  All materials: seeds, cups, and soil, will be provided. Jacinto City Library Holiday Hours

Jacinto City Branch Library along with all HCPL branches will close early Thursday, March 24 at 5pm and will be closed Friday thru Sunday, March 25-27. We will open at our normal business hours at 10 am on Monday, March 28th. Hope you all have safe and fun holiday weekend!

Springtime Puppet Show

In Jacinto City, spring has arrived!  On Thursday, March 17 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm bring the kids to the Jacinto City Branch Library will be holding it's Springtime Puppet Show.  There will be three shows: "The Little Red Flower," "The Luck of the Irish", and "The Tortoise and the Hare." Children of all ages are welcome.

MaKey MaKey:  Computer Games and Music

On Thursday, March 10th from 3:00 to 7:30 pm, we will be have a few Makey-Makey kits set up on the computer laptops for teens to come and play computer games and music through fun alternative methods!
