Ronald McDonald Friendship Adventure at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library

Ronald McDonaldFriendship is magical and full of adventures.  Join us on Thursday, August 10, at 2:00 PM as Ronald McDonald takes us on a Friendship Adventure.  Ronald will use magic, music and play to teach us about friendship, cooperation and saying no to bullying. 

This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets will be available in our library starting one hour before the show, while supplies last.  

Last Week to Register for the Summer Reading Program!

There is only one more week left to sign up for the Summer Reading Program before registration ends on Saturday, August 5th! Sign up and log your books and activities at www.hcpl.net and win prizes for all of the reading and learning activities you have done this summer.

Summer Reading is open to all ages. Earn 10 points for every book you read, 5 points for 20 minutes of reading, 5 points for activities, and 5 points for book reviews. You earn a prize for every 100 points (up to 500 points).

While registration ends on August 5th, you have until Saturday, August 19th to log your books and activities and pick up your prizes!

Let’s Get Silly in Toddler Time at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library

SillyWe will be reading, singing and shaking our sillies out this week in Toddler Time.  Please join us Wednesday, July 26 at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM for Toddler Time. 

Toddler Time is an early literacy program for children ages 18 months to 3 years of age. 

This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets and a craft are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.  A ticket is required for the child who is the appropriate age for the program. Caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend.

Preschool Storytime: Superheroes

Join us for a superhero themed Preschool Storytime on Monday, July 24th at 1:15 PM! This storytime is a ticketed program, so make sure you pick up a ticket from the children’s area when the library opens at 1:00 PM. Only the participating child needs a ticket to attend the program; caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend. Preschool Storytime is geared towards children ages 3-6 years.

Book Buddies Coming to Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch Fall 2017

Book BuddiesDo you have a child in Kindergarten – 3rd grades? Do you want to help them develop a love of reading? Then stop by the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library and fill out an application for our Book Buddies. 

Harris County Public Library’s Book Buddies program pairs trained volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading. 

This next session will run from September 13- November 15, 2017 at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch.  Your child will meet with their Big Buddy once a week on Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.  Parents or guardians must remain at the library during the session.  

Preschool Storytime: Blast off!

Join us on Monday, July 17th at 1:15 PM for Preschool Storytime! This week we’ll be reading about astronauts and space in honor of the 48th anniversary of the first manned moon landing on July 20th.

Preschool Storytime is a ticketed program. A free ticket is required for the child who is the appropriate age for the program; caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend. Tickets will be available in the children's area when we open at 1:00 PM. This storytime is geared towards kids ages 3-6 years.

Let’s Dance in Toddler Time at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch

dancingWe are movers and shakers as we dance, dance, dance in Toddler Time, Wednesday, July 12 at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM.  Mr. Alligator and Honey Bear are ready to read, sing and dance the day away. We hope to see you there!

Bilingual Preschool Storytime: Insects/Los insectos

Join us on Monday, July 10th at 1:15 PM for a bilingual preschool storytime all about insects and other creepy crawlers! We will be singing and reading in both English and Spanish and then making a ladybug hat. This storytime is a ticketed program, so make sure you pick up a ticket from the children’s area before it starts. We are Dancing with Babies at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch

Please join us for Infant Storytime this Thursday, July 6 at 10:15 am.   This month we will be focusing on movement and play as we dance the month away. 


Infant Storytime is an early literacy program for children ages 0 to 17 months of age.  Babies and caregivers learn songs, finger plays, as well as, share books and explore developmental toys to aid early literacy development.


This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.  A ticket is required for the child who is the appropriate age for the program. Caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend.
