Volunteer to be a Book Buddy at Katy Branch!

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?  Do you want to share your love of reading with the younger generation?  Book Buddies is an excellent way to do that!  This program is a literacy enrichment program that pairs together adult volunteers, known as Big Buddies, with children in kindergarten-3rd grade, known as Little Buddies.

Over the course of 10 weeks, the Big Buddies and Little Buddies will meet once a week, for 45 minutes of shared reading.

Our next session starts February 2017 and runs through April 2017.  We are looking for volunteers for our Katy location. If you are over 18, and interested in volunteering for the program, please fill our our online application.  Adult volunteers will receive training and the dates and times of the Book Buddies sessions will be discussed at the training meeting.

Help Us Decorate Our Children's Area!!!

Recently we were lucky enough to receive a wonderful token of appreciation from a family.  They made us a poster with their favorite characters.  We thought it was awesome and immediately hung it on the wall in the children's area.

In fact, we would love to have more children's artwork up in the library!  Here is your chance to let everyone know how much you love the library, tell us about your favorite book or book character!  Get out your markers, crayons, poster board and craft supplies and get creative!

We can't wait to see your work and hang it on our walls!
