KATY LIBRARY BOOK SALE

The Friends of the Katy Library will hold a summer book sale on Saturday, July 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Stop by the library for some great bargains.  Adult hardbacks will sell for $1.00 each, paperbacks for 50 cents, and all children’s books will be 3 for $1.00.

Book Buddies looking for Little Buddies

It's time to sign up your little ones for our Book Buddies program!

Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and adults together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained adult volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grades (Little Buddies.) For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

Our meetings will be Mondays at 5:00pm. The dates for the program are 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9,10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13.

LOOKING FOR A JOB?

Do you need help with online searching and online job applications?  The Katy Branch Library is offering a class on Monday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. to help you with your job search.  The class will cover conducting job searches online as well as practice applying on a job search engine, such as Indeed.com and Monster.com.  No registration is necessary.

Build a Better: Family Tree Story

Family TreeDon't you wish you had all the stories from your ancestors written down? How they lived; what they ate; the scrapes they got into as kids. Maybe they're still around or maybe you're now the oldest generation. Come on Thursday, July 13 at 3:00pm for our Build a Better Family Tree Story. You'll learn how to draw out these stories from your family and get started writing your own story in 10 minutes a day. 

TEEN BOOK CLUB

Teens join our book club on Tuesday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. to discuss Catherynne M. Valente’s novel, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making.  Haven’t had a chance to read the book, no worries, come anyway to discuss your favorite books.

Storyteller Aileen Kirkham

Captain Book will be entertaining us with wonderful stories at the Katy Library on Tuesday, June 27th, at 2:30pm. This program is intended for school age children and they must be able to attend without parents. Space is extremely limited and tickets will be handed out beginning one hour before the show. HAPPY RETIREMENT

Are you planning to retire soon?  This program will be perfect for you.  On Thursday, June 29 at 3:00 p.m., the Katy Branch Library will present an education program on planning for retirement.  Learn about the many options that you have when you get ready to retire, including working part-time and Medicare options.

Chicken Big performance

Books Alive will have a free performance of the children's book Chicken Big, Thursday, June 22, at 10:15am at the Katy Library.  This will take the place of our preschool storytime, which is regulary scheduled during that time.  

ADULTS: BUILD A BETTER DECORATING STYLE

Learn the easiest way to restore and paint your old furniture on Thursday, June 22 at 3:00 p.m.  Multiplicity Studio will give a demonstration on using the popular decorative Chalk Paint.

Enjoy a summer afternoon relaxing and getting crafty on Thursday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m.
A variety of materials and patterns will be available to make one-of-a-kind bookmarks for all those books you plan to read this summer.
