Pages by the Pint December Book Club

 Pages by the Pint Book Club will take place at No Label Brewery on Tuesday, December 18th at 8:00pm as we discuss "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" by Jenny Lawson. Join us for beer, books, and bonding.  Outside food and           non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. See you then!

No Book & Bite Club Meeting in December

The Underground Railroad by Colson WhiteheadOur monthly Book & Bite Club is going to take off for December, so you have two whole months to read our next selection: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. Pick up your copy of the book at the front desk, and we'll see you at the next meeting on Thursday, January 31 at 1:30pm.

ESL Registration

The Katy Branch Library will begin accepting applications for our spring ESL and Citizenship classes this Saturday, December 1st.  The applications are available at the front desk at the library.  Anyone interested in ESL must register to take a placement test, which will be held  January 9, 2019 and January 10, 2019.   There is no required test for Citizenship class.    All classes are free and will start the week of January 21, 2019.

Seeking Little Buddies

It's time to sign up your little ones for our Book Buddies program!

Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and adults together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained adult volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grades (Little Buddies.) For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

Our meetings will be Mondays at 5:00pm. The dates for the program are: 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, and 11/12.

Art Camp at Katy Library

This summer, the Katy Library is thrilled to present Art Camp in conjunction with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston this summer!

Art Camp is a partnership between the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Harris County Public Library.   Art Camp is for children ages 6 to 12 and will be held at the Katy Branch Library June 11-15, 2018 from 10:00 am to noon. This is a free program that is open to 25 applicants. Participants must be able to attend all five days of the camp. A waiting list will be kept for those who still wish to sign up after the intial 25.

Volunteer at Katy Library

Katy Library will be accepting applications for teen summer volunteers beginning May 15, 2018 until May 31, 2018.  All volunteers must be in high school or going into high school.  Space in the program is limited and due to high interest, there will be a lottery to determine placement in the volunteer program.  All volunteers MUST attend a MANDATORY training session Wednesday, June 6, from 10:00am- 12:00pm.

Guzheng Ensemble

We invite you to a special performance on May 31st at Katy Branch Library, from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. We will have a Guzheng Ensemble. Guzheng is an Ancient Chinese musical instrument.

 

Baskets and Bunnies

The City of Katy will be hosting Baskets & Bunnies a the Katy City Park on Saturday, March 31st, 9:00AM-12:00PM. 

There will be a bounce house, a petting zoo, crafts and pictures with the Easter Bunny! Don't forget your Easter baskets, as Park Fellowship North will be sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt!

Do you like learning with computer games?  Join us for a fun and interactive hour of typing games.

We will meet in the Katy Computer Lab.

Holiday Closures

The Katy Library will be closed the following days for the Easter holiday:

Thursday, March 29: closing early at 5pm

Friday, March 30:  CLOSED

Saturday, March 31: CLOSED

We will reopen regular hours on Monday, April 2, at 10:00am.   Have a great holiday!
