Missed the Gardening & Composting Tips?

Did you miss the Gardening & Composting program today?  If you were unable to attend the SAGE Program on “Gardening and Composting Tips,” by Debbie Banfield (Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center), you can stop by the library and get a copy of the composting guide provided by Countryside & Small Stock Journal. Feel free to view the guide at your convenience.  Attendees learned about Worms, Trends of Soil Compaction, The Role of Soil in a Sustainable Garden, and Signs of Nutrient Deficiency.
 

 

Children's Weekly Run-Down

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Happy Spring! Join us this week on Thursday the 6th of April @ 4 PM for our World Tour Book Club to explore different countries and their traditions and stories.

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Preschool Storytime on Tuesday @ 2 PM, and Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Teen Blackout Poetry

April is National Poetry Month. To celebrate teens can visit the Teen Room at any time during the month to participate in creating their own poems from old book pages. Just black out the words you don’t need to create your own beautiful poetry.

Gardening & Composting: April 4th

Whether you are new to gardening or a seasoned expert, you can learn the tips and tricks of gardening.   Join Naturalist & Gardening Guru Debbie Banfield from Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center on April 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. to find out how to get the perfect garden.  This program is open to all adults.

Teen 3D Printer Open Lab - April 1 @ 2:30 PM

Teens can come by our 3D Printer Open Lab to learn the basics of TinkerCAD, an online 3D design website, to create their own 3D objects to print out. The Open Lab will be held on Saturday, April 1, from 2:30-3:30 PM in the Computer Lab.

The 3D printer open lab is part of Codename Gener8, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-focused program for teens.

This tweet from Harris County Public Library makes a good point:  eBooks are convenient when traveling, especially when real estate (i.e. luggage space) is at stake.

Downloadable eBooks are available 24 / 7 at our eHCPL site.

Not sure how it all works? Kingwood Library is offering an evening eBooks for iPad class on April 19th from 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM. You can register for the class here.

Kingwood Branch Library Awarded Grant from Kingwood Women's Club

Kingwood Women's Club 2017 Grant RecipientsWe would like to thank Kingwood Women's Club for the generous grant it has awarded the Kingwood Branch Library. The money received will go toward expanding the library's collection of award-winning titles targeting young readers. In addition to this kind gift, the Kingwood Women's Club dedicates numerous volunteer hours to the library each and every week. We are thankful for such support.

Citizenship Classes @ Kingwood Library

The Kingwood Library is now offering free citizenship classes! These classes are designed for adults preparing to take the naturalization test. The student must register within first 2 classes (3-18 or 3-25) and needs to commit to 11 classes (not counting Easter weekend). The program runs from March 18th until June 3rd.
