Speakers will include Commissioner Precinct 4 R. Jack Cagle, Houston District E City Councilmember Dave Martin, Friends of the Library - Kingwood (FOLK) President Carolyn Humphrey and Harris County Public Library Director Edward Melton. Kingwood Park Drumline will provide music.

Come tour the beautifully restored Kingwood Branch Library and celebrate the library's return, the people who made it possible and the community's resilience.

SAGE Brown Bag Travelogue

Join SAGE @ Kingwood Library for a Brown Bag Travelogue on Tues 6/26 from 10 AM-12 PM in the Meeting Room. Come and explore the historical sights and modern architecture of Austria’s capital Vienna. Experience a unique blend of imperial traditions, coffee houses, cozy wine taverns, and the very special Viennese charm. Discover tips and offers for your next unforgettable vacation. Children's Weekly Run Down!

This Week at the Library

Week four of the Summer Reading Program at the Kingwood Library! This Tuesday we have our regularly scheduled Toddler Time @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event. Lapsit Storytime is @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. Preschool Storytime will be @ 11 AM on Wednesday. Our Saturday storytime this week will be presented by H-E-Buddy @ 10:30 AM!  Tickets required upon entry for all storytimes. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event. 

LIBRARIES ROCK! 

Teen Rock Photo Holders & Book Club!

On Monday, June 25, at 1:30 PM, create a fun piece of art with rocks that can hold your favorite pictures, notes, or mementos. Paints and rocks will be provided. Just be sure to wear your painting clothes! Program will be held in the Teen Room.

Then on Wednesday, June 27, at 4:30 PM, come to the first meeting of the Kingwood Library’s new Teen Book Club. Talk about books, eat food, maybe play a game or two. This month’s theme is “Reader’s Choice.” Mystery, Fantasy, Graphic Novel, etc….Whatever you want to read, read it and share with the group. Teen Book Club will meet in the Teen Game Room.

Gregorian Chant at Kingwood Library

This weekend, the Kingwood Library will feature a special program. The schola cantorum of St. Basil's School of Gregorian Chant will be here to perform on Saturday, June 23rd from 11 AM - 12 PM.

CANCELLED: Our bi-weekly meeting of Rocking Art with Ms. Devon will be cancelled on June the 27th in honor of our opening day celebration! Come in @ 4 PM instead and enjoy three different craft stations in our children’s area to celebrate our reopening!

Teen LittleBits & Movie Night!

This week, come by the Teen Room on Monday, June 18, at 1:30 PM to learn the basics of circuitry. Using LittleBits technology, you can snap together building blocks to create your own invention. For teens and tweens entering grades 6-12. (For younger children, please see the children’s summer reading calendar for their LittleBits classes.)

Talk It Up! American Marriage

Join us for coffee and a lively book discussion in the Conference Room on Monday, June 18th from 7:00 - 8:45 PM. We will be discussing "An American Marriage" by Tayari Jones. The story concerns newlyweds Celestial and Roy, the living embodiment of the New South. The couple is settling into the routine of their life together when Roy is sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. An insightful look into the lives of people who are bound and separated by forces beyond their control.
