But wait! There's More!

The teens had a lot of fun last night solving the riddles and deciphering clues to find the loot in our Escape Room Challenge! Both groups solved their way to a sweet and yummy reward.

Did you miss all the excitement last night? Don’t worry, there are still many more teen events coming up in July and August. You can watch movies, make your own journal light up with LED’s, or build a Mechanical Hand. Then, on Friday, July 29 at 6:00 PM, be sure to come to our Teen Harry Potter Lock-In! We’ll have prizes, games, crafts, and food! Permission slip is required, pick one up at the upstairs reference desk today!

Family Chess Club - July 15 @ 1:00 PM

Whether you are learning, expanding your knowledge, or just want to have fun, come by our Family Chess Club! Chess Club will on Saturday, July 15, from 1:00-3:00 PM, in the Meeting Room.

Teen Escape Room Challenge - July 13 @ 6:30 PM

If you like riddles or just want to test your mind against our codes and puzzles, we challenge you to ESCAPE the ROOM! Break out with time to spare and see just how much loot you can get out with. The fun starts on Thursday, July 13, at 6:30 PM in the Teen Room. (Once the program has started, late arrivals may not be able to participate.)

Did You Miss the "Get Clean" Program?

The SAGE Program  held a "Get Clean:Safety Tips on Household Cleaners" presentation on July 11, 2017.  The live presentation featured informational tips and methonds on the safety use of household cleaning products.  Special guest Anne Ferrell and Rita Daniels shared with attendees information on the toxins that may enter the home using various brand cleaners. In addition, the presenters shared a government website to look up toxicity information.  If you have questions about your products you are currently using, visit https://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/  Attendees also participated in a "hands-on" game creating a greater awareness of household products that are harmful to the environment.

FREE Adult Nutrition Classes Continue at Kingwood Library

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension's FREE summer series of adult nutrition classes continue at Kingwood Library. This week's class will be held on Wednesday 7/12 from 11AM -12:30PM in the Meeting Room.

Teen Button Battle - July 10-22

Harry Potter Lock-In is on Friday, July 28! To prepare, come by the Teen Room between July 10-22 to pick up the button that shows off your true Hogwarts house colors!

What is a button battle? It’s where teens vote on two or more of their favorite fandoms by taking a button they can pin to a backpack or anything else. The fandom that has the most buttons taken (aka “votes”), they are the one that wins!

Tomorrow: Get Clean-Toxic Household Products! @ 10 AM

Join us!  For insightful information about household chemical products, that may be harmful to your health.  Special guest Anne Ferrell & Rita Daniels will give tips on how to avoid toxins in the home on Tuesday, July 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the computer lab, 2nd floor.

Children's Weekly Run-Down

Our Story times continue with their new schedule! Toddler Time in canceled to make way for SRP this week. Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

BUILD: A BETTER WORLD: Join us for the fifth meeting of our Maker Monday Club on Monday the 10th of July @ 2:15 PM. We will be building and creating a new and exciting craft out of recycled materials every week!

Our annual Princess Tea Party is this Tuesday, the 11th of July, @ 10 AM. Tickets Required.

Our special summer program for the week with be a demonstration of Renaissance Martial Arts on Thursday, the 13th of July, @ 10 AM. Join us as ARMA Houston comes to Kingwood Branch Library to answer questions, demonstrate drills and exercises with the longsword, as well as provide a live fighting demonstration.

We will also have our sixth Block Party this Friday the 14th of July @ 2:15 PM!

This week will also hold the third meeting of the Family Chess Club on Saturday, the 15th of July, @ 1 PM. Whether you are learning, expanding your knowledge, or just want to have fun, come by our Family Chess Club!

Black & White Photography Class

Photography fans, this Saturday, July 8th from 10 AM - 12:30 PM is a class on Black and White Photography taught by Kingwood Photo Club. Why would anyone take black and white images in this vibrant world? It used to be the only way we communicated photographically. Learn the art of black and white, what to look for, and how to process your images. Self-register online or by calling 281-360-6804.

Teen 3D Printer Open Lab - July 6 @ 6:30 PM

In this class, teens will learn the basics of TinkerCAD, a 3D design program, to make their own small design, that can then be printed using Kingwood Library’s Ultimaker 3D printer. Class will be held on Thursday, July 6, from 6:30-8:00 PM, in the computer lab. Please note that an email address is required to create a TinkerCAD account.
