A Taste of Hispanic & Mayan Culture!

Your Invited to a "Salsa Demo."  Salsas in Mexico are prepared to spice or season the dishes.  "Cebollas Moradas" is a seasoning dish of pickled red onions which are prepared to go with the cochinita Pibil.  This spice dish comes from the Mayan Peninsula.  Please join Hiro Vasguez and the Kingwood Branch Library on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10 am for a taste of the Hispanic and Mayan culture.

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Our Fall programming continues at Full Steam Ahead! Our weekly STEAM activity is this Thursday @ 4 PM. This week we also have a special guest visit from the Kingwood Garden Club on Wednesday the 10th @ 3:30 PM. Join us for some “Pumpkin Fun!”

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time* on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Infant Lapsit Storytime* @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime* on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

Teen Advisory Group- Oct 8 @ 4:45

Teens! What programs do you want to attend at the library? Anime Club? Dungeons & Dragons Group? Crafts, 3D Design, or Robotics? If you’re a teen and interested in earning volunteer hours at the library by helping with programs, then the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help plan teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. This month’s meeting will be on Monday, October 8, from 4:45-5:45 PM. We meet in the Teen Game Room.

Fun4Seniors George H.W. Bush Presidential Library

On Wed 10/3, #KingwoodLibrary staff joined HarrisCounty Precinct4 Fun4Seniors on a trip to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station. The group viewed photos, sat in an exact replica of the Oval Office, and tried to land a plane in an aircraft carrier simulator.

Fun4Seniors is operated by Harris County Precinct 4 Senior Adult Program and is open to ages 50 years and older. Transportation is free to and from Kingwood Branch Library. For registration, payment, and event information please contact Fun4Seniors by calling 281-893-3726.

SAGE: Cooking Demo: Mexican Style

Join SAGE on October 9, 2018 at 10 am for a cooking demonstration. Hiro Vasquez will demonstrate the art of making a quick and easy Mexican-style dish. Come and try the seasonal varieties that are great with corn chips, on top of chicken or fish, or in your favorite veggie burrito! This event is sponsored by SAGE and is open to the public.

Photoshop Elements Workshop at Kingwood Library

Join the #KingwoodPhotoClub at #KingwoodLibrary this Saturday Oct 6th from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM for a workshop in the Computer Lab on the Basics of Photoshop Elements. Learn to use Elements to keep all your images organized, and create collages and slideshows. Get into editing!

Scratch Coding for Middle Schoolers

Scratch is a programming language developed by MIT where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. This is an intermediate class for middle school teens who already know basic Scratch coding. This program will meet on Thursday, October 4, from 4:45-6:00 PM in the Computer Lab.
