Fun4Seniors Trip to the National Museum of Funeral History

On Wednesday 10/31, KingwoodLibrary staff joined HarrisCounty Precinct4 Fun4Seniors on a trip to the Museum of Funeral History. The group viewed exhibits about presidential funerals. Also, they learned about the evolution of funeral vehicles, customs, & traditions from around the world.

Fun4Seniors is operated by Harris County Precinct 4 Senior Adult Program and is open to ages 50 years and older. Transportation is free to and from Kingwood Branch Library. For registration, payment, and event information please contact Fun4Seniors by calling 281-893-3726.

 

Scratch Coding for Middle Schoolers

Scratch is a coding language developed by MIT where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. This class is for middle school teens who already know basic Scratch coding. This program will meet on Thursday, November 1, from 4:45-6:00 PM, in the Computer Lab. Registration is required. Please call or register online.

TX Workforce - Resume Tips

Join TexasWorkforce for resume tips on Thurs 11/1 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM.  Learn how to develop professional resumes, applications, references, and cover letters that make the most impact with employers and show that you are the right person for the job.  Self-register online or by calling 832-927-7830.

 

Teen Taste Test Challenge- Oct.30 @ 4:30

First, can you taste the difference between brand and off brand snacks? Can you decipher the different flavors of cookies or candies? Put your taste buds to the test as we try a variety of favorite foods at our Teen Taste Test Challenge! Program meets on Tuesday, October 30, from 4:30-5:30 PM, in the Teen Room.

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Happy Halloween! Our Fall programming continues at Full Steam Ahead! Our weekly STEAM activity is this Thursday @ 4 PM. 

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time* on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Infant Lapsit Storytime* @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime* on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

*Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event. 

Overdrive for Library eBooks & Audiobooks

Learn how to download or stream eBooks and audiobooks using Overdrive. All you need is a Harris County Public Library card! Join us on Tues 10/30 from 2:30 PM - 4 PM. Self-register online or call 832-927-7830.

Vaccines: A Clinical Review

Occupation & lifestyle expose one to infections. Being immunized is a lifelong responsibility. Know the vaccinations you need. On Wed October 10/24 from 1-3 PM a rep from Harris County Public Health & Education Services will be at Kingwood Library to provide information & answer questions about the immunization process.

Teen Masquerade Masks & Book Club!

Halloween. Renaissance Festivals. Comicpalooza. Whatever you are interested in, complete your attire by making a Masquerade Mask! Come to the Teen Room on Monday, October 22, at 4:30-5:30 PM, to make your very own. 

 

Then on Wednesday, October 24, at 4:45-5:45 PM, come to our monthly Teen Book Club. Discuss books, book-to-movie adaptations, and enjoy snacks. Need a suggestion on something to read? This month’s theme is “Horror.” Read any scary or paranormal book that you want and then come and share with the group! We meet in the Teen Game Room.
