Fantasy Football 101

There are still openings for our #FantasyFootball101 class happening on July 31st at 7pm.

To succeed in fantasy football, you will need the business shrewdness of a general manager, the knowledge of a pro scout, and the strategy of a head coach. Fantasy football allows you to compose and control your own team of NFL players. Learn the fundamentals of the game and discover where you can play different types of fantasy football to compete against friends and/or strangers.

Pen and Paintbrush Book Discussion Thursday Aug. 10 1:30 pm

From time to time, in partnership with The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, we present the Pen and Paintbrush Book Discussion. We read a book related to the current art exhibit at the museum. Then we gather to discuss the book and tour the exhibit. Our book this time is Stormy Weather by Paulette Jiles. The novel celebrates four strong women toughing out the Great Depression in the Texas dust bowl.  Be sure to get the book and start reading soon! It’s readily available in paperback or you can check out a copy at the library. Then join us for the discussion and tour on Thursday, Aug 10 at 1:30 pm in the Conference Room at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. See you there!

Escape the Library! Save the Date Saturday, July 15 10:30 am

Join us for an awesome Escape Room--if you dare! Use your wits to solve the puzzles and escape the room!

In Time Warp, players are lost in time and have to navigate the history of communication in order to escape. In the game, players will learn about various forms of communication. Starting with hieroglyphics, Incan knots and the Pony Express, all the way to video and the Internet. The main character in the game is Vint Cerf, one of the "fathers of the Internet." Don't worry, if you need to leave the room for any reason, you can. But once you leave you can't get back in.

This program is for adults only. But don't worry, teens get their own version on Wed. July 12 at 3 pm.

Register at hcpl.net or call 281-376-4610.
