Adult Craft: Kindness Rocks!

In the mood to craft? We will be having a special program for adults this Saturday, July 28, 2018. Come in and paint some “kindness” rocks to decorate your lawn or to give to a friend. This program can also earn you activity points towards our summer reading program. You do not want to miss it! Supplies are limited so please register here.

Congrats Nerissa!

One of our customers, Nerissa, recently visited the Barbara Bush Library to share some good news with us. She passed her Citizenship test and is now a US Citizen! Congrats Nerissa! 

Nerissa previously attended our Citizenship classes with Gaspar and found the information provided very helpful. She's beyond excited about her new achievement!

Meet the Staff: Jennifer

picture of staff memberJennifer is a Library Technician at the Barbara Bush Branch. She has been at our branch for 14 years, but she has been with HCPL for 17 years total. Her hobbies include cooking, sleeping, hanging out with her daughter, listening to The Weekend and watching the Texans. Her favorite color is black, she loves Halloween and her favorite foods are curry chicken and anything chocolate. Jennifer's favorite book is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Jennifer has a three year old daughter, which is her whole world.

Indian Dance Performance and Workshop, July 17th!

 We are going to have an exciting event tomorrow, July 17, at the Barbara Bush Library! We will be having an Indian Dance performance and workshop. Children will learn basic dance techniques, hear stories, and get a chance to see items that relate to India. This program is free of charge and open to children of all ages, no ticket required. It will take place across the street at the Cypress Creek Christian Church community center, and will begin at 3pm. 

Blood Drive - Friday July 13th

We are once again partnering up with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, July 13th! The Donor Coach will be parked in the parking lot. Everyone that attempts to donate will receive a FREE beach towel!

Meet the Staff: Katelyn

Picture of staff memberKatelyn is an Adult Services librarian and has been working at the Barbara Bush Branch library for about a year. Her hobbies include following the Astros (go 'Stros!), going to farmers markets and trying new coffee shops. Her favorite color is kelly green and her favorite food is Nutella on french bread. If Katelyn had attended Hogwarts she would have been a Hufflepuff/Huffle-claw. Her favorite book is Feed by M.T. Anderson and she enjoys reading speculative fiction or "literary" sci-fi.

Kids' Cafe Summer Feeding

Have you had lunch with us yet?

Come to our Kids' Cafe! All kids under 18 and their guardians can come eat a free, healthy meal at the Barbara Bush Library every week day this summer from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm until August 18th. This wonderful program is sponsored by the Houston Food Bank
