Re Opening Soon!

We are happy to announce that the Barbara Bush Library will be reopening on Monday, May 14th at 1pm. It's been a long road from August 2017 when Hurricane Harvey put us out of commission, but we are back and ready to serve the community again.

There will be a grand opening planned for June 2018. Details on that will be coming soon!

We can't wait to see you all again!

Harvey Restoration Update, April 22 - 28

As our friends in the Bear Creek area know, we are putting the finishing touches on Katherine Tyra Branch Library in preparation for its reopening on Monday, April 30. As you can see in the video the Barbara Bush and Kingwood branches are looking more like their old selves every day.

UPDATE: Barbara Bush Branch Library reopens May 14, 2018!

Remembering a Great Lady

We are so proud that our library is named after Mrs. Barbara Bush. And now sadly she has passed on. Our staff and library supporters have heavy hearts tonight. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bush family during this sad time. But we are resolved to continue her work, fighting illiteracy and ignorance, offering education and enrichment to citizens of all ages. We will continue her work and ensure her legacy for decades to come. After all, it is what Mrs. Bush would want us to do.

Bear Creek & Galena Park Set to Reopen

We are excited to announce that the Galena Park and Katherine Tyra branch libraries will reopen this month. Galena Park opens its doors Monday, April 23 after repairs to its roof and air conditioning system. The Katherine Tyra Branch Library at Bear Creek will welcome customers for the first time since Hurricane Harvey forced it to shutter on Monday, April 30.

Work is progressing at the Kingwood and Barbara Bush branch libraries, though we do not yet have reliable estimates for their return to service.

We want to thank you all again for your patience and support on the long road to recovery.
