Friends' Book Sale Coming Soon!

The Friends of Crosby Branch Library are having a book sale!  It will take place in the meeting room on Friday, June 2, 1 pm to 6 pm, and Saturday, June 3, 10 am to 5 pm.  New and gently used books, movies, cds, magazines, and more can be purchased at bargain prices.  There will also be a special on coffee table books: only 50 cents each!  All proceeds benefit Crosby Branch and help provide great summer reading programs in our community, free of charge.  

Plan to come early for the best selection, and thank you for supporting your local library!

Crosby Book Club meets Friday, May 19 @ 2 pm

In tribute to Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, Crosby Book Club will meet on Friday, May 19, at 2 pm to discuss The Wangs vs. the World, Jade Chang's debut novel.   When Charles Wang loses everything in the financial crisis of 2008, he embarks on a cross country trip to secure his family and return to his Chinese roots.  Chang's story chronicles some of the ridiculous excesses of the privileged, at the same time revealing her characters' marked capacity for humor and resilience.

Free Computer Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 3 pm

Do you want to communicate online with family and friends?  Need to send your resume to a potential employer?  Learn how to create and send email to anyone with access to the web.  This free class will meet on Tuesday, May 16, and Thursday, May 18, from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Friends Annual Meeting, Monday April 24, with Guest Speaker Kim Ogg

The Friends of Crosby Branch Library annual meeting will take place on Monday, April 24, from 6:30 pm  to 8:00 pm.  Kim Ogg, Harris County's newly elected District Attorney, is the guest speaker.  The public is invited to attend.    

Crosby Book Club Meets Friday, April 21 @ 2 pm

Crosby Book Club meets Friday, April 21, at 2 pm to discuss Hillbilly Elegy, by J. D. Vance.  In his provocative memoir, Vance describes his upbringing and the culture of his family, with roots in eastern Kentucky.  There have been claims that this book is important because it sheds light on the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.  Hillbilly Elegy has been on the New York Times Best Seller List for 36 weeks.  It is currently number 2 in nonfiction.  

Easter Egg Hunt at the Crosby Library

Easter Eggs in grassThe Crosby Branch Library will have its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday, April 11th at 10:30am. We will read stories and then hunt for eggs! Bringing a basket from home is helpful, but not necessary. Come and join the fun!

Crosby Book Club Meets Friday, March 17 @ 2 pm

Crosby Book Club will meet on Friday, March 17 at 2 pm in the Meeting Room.  This month, readers chose their book club book from a display of wrapped books where the titles were hidden.  In essence, they went on a blind date with a book.  Were the dates fun?  Disappointing?  Did anyone find true love?  Join us to find out! 

Friends Book Sale This Weekend!

The Friends of Crosby Branch Library Spring Book Sale is this weekend!  Sale hours are Friday, March 3 from 1-6 pm and Saturday, March 4 from 10-5 pm.  Shop in our Meeting Room for new and gently used books, dvds, cds, and more, at great low prices.  All proceeds benefit Crosby Branch Library and help support Summer Reading Programs for area children.
