How to Develop a Business Plan

This Saturday, March 23rd at 10:30am SCORE Houston will be hosting a presentation about business plans.

A solid business plan is essential to gaining access to capital and to truly understanding your business today and in the future.This Business Plan workshop will walk you through the steps needed for most business plans.

Be prepared to leave with more confidence in your ability to write an effective business plan.

3D Printing Orientation Class

This event requires registration.

This orientation session will introduce participants to 3D printing services in the library. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule time to use the printer after receiving hands-on training.


Class size is limited.

Recommended for ages 8 - adult. Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian.

Green Thumb Gardening Series: Herbs

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Harris County Master Gardeners are pleased to offer the Green Thumb Gardening Series of Lectures. These presentations are free and there are no reservations required.

Join us on March 14th at 6:30pm and learn about planting and growing herbs.

Henna & Calligraphy Workshop

The Islamic Arts Society organizes events to celebrate Islamic culture and promote the positive image of our community among Houstonians. To celebrate, the Islamic Arts Society will be here Saturday March 9th doing henna and calligraphy demonstrations from 12-1:30pm. Then from 1:30-3pm, there will be an artists' reception. Come join us and enjoy beautiful art.

So you think you want to try....?

Spring Break is coming next week and we have some fun programs in our Children's Department. Join us for a series of special classes and events during Spring Break. You just might find your new hobby!

Here's a listing of the programs we will have available next week. 

Code Ninjas– Learn to code using Scratch in this introductory coding class for kids taught by Code Ninjas. We will offer a session for kids ages 7-10 and a second session for kids ages 10-14.

African American Read In

Everyone is invited to our annual African American Read In, held in partnership with E.B.O.N.Y. We'll have author talks, a storyteller for the kids, kid's crafts, and our Curiosity Cruiser will be here! After the author talks, there will be refreshments and a chance to buy the author's books.

The event will be held at the Forum at the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center located at 6823 Cypresswood Drive.

"Speak of Me as I Am" A celebration of African American contributions

Join us for a special presentation by Main Street Theater at Barbara Bush Branch Library on Feb 21, 2019 at 7pm in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room. 

Library Beautification Day!

Join us on Saturday, March 23rd at Evelyn Meador Library for our 4th Annual Beautification Project. We will meet at the library at 10 am and work until around 1 pm. Everyone is invited to participate – Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, your organization -- or yourself! All are welcome. We’ll serve light refreshments and coffee too. You can help your community, maybe see your neighbors and share a cup of java. To register, click here.

Celebrate African American History Month With Us!

I love our national holidays that celebrate history and culture. Working at the library, I get the opportunity to plan and participate in programs that teach me more about cultures and to interact with peoples that I wouldn’t get to otherwise. That is why I am so excited that February is African American History Month and you should definitely be too. We have some amazing activities for all ages that will allow you to learn more about African American heritage and history, while having fun at the same time. Here are some of the great activities we have planned:
