Aldine Library Sidewalk Project

The City of Houston has begun their project to widen the sidewalk in front of the Aldine Library. Today, an excavator dug up the asphalt that comprised the STAFF parking lot driveway. However, the PUBLIC parking lot driveway is still intact.

We'll keep you posted on any updates or developments regarding this project!

Celebrate National Library Week @ your library!

Did you know that April 14 - April 20, 2013 is National Library Week? There are many ways to celebrate with us and show support of your local library. For some of those opportunities, please check out the American Library Association's link here. Also, please check out this link found of the Texas Library Association's site (here).

If you stop by this week, please visit our display set up in the Quiet Space on the Second Floor.

Thank you!

Sidewalk Project

As you may have noticed, The City of Houston is replacing the sidewalks along Airline Drive and Dyna Drive. Today, the City began to work on the sidewalk along the entrance to the Aldine Library. A hydraulic crusher broke the concrete at the library's driveway this morning in the first phase of the project. Your vehicle can still enter and exit the parking lot at this point. Later, perhaps next week, another City of Houston contractor will tear up the concrete and replace it. We'll keep you updated as the project continues.

Parking Lot Resurfacing @ Aldine

Dear Aldine Patrons,

The Aldine library parking lot is getting a badly needed resurfacing / refinishing. The resurfacing project will begin on Thursday, March 28th. The project should be finished, we hope, by the morning of Tuesday, April 2nd. However, weather is a factor so it may take more or less time to complete it.

The library parking lot will be unavailable on Thursday, March 28th, Saturday, March 30th and Monday April 1st. The Aldine Library leaves it to our patrons to find suitable parking in the area. At all times, the resurfacing crew will provide a route for walkers, bus riders, and wheelchairs to get into the building.

Thank you for your patience during this time.

Celebrate Creative African American Thinkers!

Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library decided to do a slight twist on our Black History Month display.  Laura Matson, Circulation Assistant, and Kathy Green, Circulation Supervisor, wanted to focus on some lesser known inventors in Black History.  What would we do without the pencil sharpener or laser eye surgery for cataracts?

Self Checkout

You may notice something different when you come inside the Aldine Library. Our self checkout machines are now lined up in a row! These machines are easy to use and quite helpful during our busier times when lines are long. If you want to be shown how to use them just let any member of our staff know. We would be glad to help.
