Come in and meet Heidi our employee of the month.  Her official title is Circulation Assistant.

She handles many items that come in missing, some of the damaged items, delivery and uses her talents in many areas.

To earn this honor Heidi had to demonstrate her excellent customer service skills.

Please come in and say, "Hi".  Check out some books and attend some of our programs.

Meet Your Atascocita Staff: Gloria

Name: Gloria
Title: Library Technician
Time working at branch:  An entire decade of my life

1. I’m a guru of nonfiction – travel.  Hawaii or bust!

2. On my own time, I enjoy getting out of town!  Traveling is a passion of mine.  I look forward to taking my children to Europe in the (hopefully) near future.  In the meantime, I enjoy bowling and  going to the movies.  I even own a personal Elvis themed bowling ball; however, I’m not as good at bowling as one would think.

3. One thing most people would not realize I had done was as a teen, I used to go fishing frequently.  My father and I took off on a 12 hour deep sea fishing trip the night of my high school graduation.  I was happy to bring home a celebratory  red snapper!

Library closed on Labor Day

Job FairDon't forget, all Harris County Library locations will be closed this Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. And speaking of Labor Day, did you know Harris County will be hosting a Job and Career Fair on Thursday, September 10th at NRG Stadium from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm? Don't miss this opportunity to meet staff and hiring managers from several Harris County departments. Check out the Harris County Human Resources & Risk Management webpage for more information and to print out a free parking pass.

Meet Your Atascocita Staff: Kimberly

Name: Kimberly
Title: Circulation Assistant
Time working at branch: 1 year, 6 months, and 29 days at the time of this writing.

I’m not sure I am a guru of any one genre. I am open to reading anything except science fiction and paperback romance novels.  Right now, I mostly read what my professors tell me to read.  When I do get the chance to read what I want, it is whatever is available on Hoopla or Overdrive. I prefer to listen to my books rather than to sit down and read them. I think this is because I spend so much time reading my class textbooks that I get tired of sitting.

Meet Your Atascocita Staff: Mary

Name: Mary

Title: Assistant Branch Librarian

Time working at branch: 13 yrs in June

1. I don't have a particular genre that is my "go-to" style. When I get the chance I read a little in horror, fantasy, some general fiction, young adult, and some children's books.

2. On my own time, I like to visit museums, botanical gardens, and historical locations. Basically, I like to travel and sight see. If I had the money, I would do this all of the time and travel further than just a day trip from Houston.
