Adults - Mon. 11/12 - Freeman Mystery Book Group Featuring Peter Spiegelman

 

The Freeman Mystery Book Group is a gathering of mystery book enthusiasts. No registration is required. A new author is chosen each month.

For the November meeting, we will discuss mysteries by author Peter Spiegelman. Read any of his books and come share your thoughts or just tell us what mysteries you've been reading! Check the library catalog to request items or contact the library for assistance.

Freeman staff will show the audience how to make delicious dishes. After the demo, attendees will be able to enjoy the prepared food.

This free event will require no registration. The refreshments prepared in this event will be provided by the Friends of Freeman Library and HEB.

People from Freeman Library will be here to address question(s) about desktops/laptops, smartphones, digital tablets, HCPL eMedia, etc. for a 10 minute, 1-On-1 discussion. This “10 Minutes of Tech” session is free but registration is required. To register, please call the library at 832.927.5420 and ask for the Reference Desk. Space is limited.

Have you always wanted to express yourself by writing a blog but don’t know where to begin? Are you in need of a homepage to promote yourself? In this class, we will learn how to create a basic website using WordPress.com. No prior blogging or web design experience is needed.

November Events in the Children's Department

Here's some fun programs in the Children's Department in November:

Maker Monday at 4:30 pm for children 5-12 years old.  This afterschool program features an activity or craft each week.  11/5 -Magnetic Mosaics, 11/12 - Finger Crochet; and 11/26 - Marble Run.  Tickets given out at 4:00 pm.

Pajama Storytime - Thursday 11/8 at 6:00 pm.  Evening storytime tor all ages.Includes a craft.  Tickets given out at 5:30 pm.

Baby Playtime - Friday 11/9 at 10:00 am.  No tickets needed for this outing for babies from infants through 18 months old.

Family Storytime on Saturday, November 3 @ 11:00 am

Looking for a fun outing for the familly on Saturday morning?  Drop by the Children's Department for Family Storytime at 11:00 am this Saturday, November 3.   We'll have stories, songs, and fingerplays.   No tickets are needed for this storytime.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman LIbrary for supporting and this program.

2018 Project Pumpkin Results!

  The results are in for the 2018 Project Pumpkin: First Place - "Clifford the Big Red Dog"; Second Place - "Thumbs Up for the Library;" and Third Place - "Jack-Jack O'Lantern."  We had 7 staff members decorate pumpkins to look like childrens' literature or popular culture figures.  Children and adults voted on their favorite pumpkin.  We had over 270 voters in this year's Project Pumpkin.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this Freeman Library tradition.

Adults - New Crafts-To-Go Kits Are Here!

Adults - stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up a Crafts-To-Go kit. November’s project is a decorative turkey (see picture). This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last. 1 craft kit/adult present.

Vote for your favorite pumpkin in Project Pumpkin

  Looking for some last minute pumpkin decorating ideas?  Drop by the Children's Department on Tuesday 10/30 or Wednesday 10/31 to cast a vote in Project Pumpkin 2018.  We have 7 contestants - pumpkins decorated by staff from the Adult, Children's, and Customer Service deapartment.  The pumpkins will be on display for voting through Halloween on Wednesday, October 31.   We will announce the names of the pumpkins that received the top 3 number of votes on Thursday, November 1.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program through the years.
