TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month This Friday!

Adults - The TGIF Programs Friday Film Series continues Friday at 10:15 AM. In recognition of Asian - Pacific American Heritage Month, we look forward to showing Flower Drum Song, the 1961 musical comedy starring Nancy Kwan, James Shigeta, and Benson Fong.

Tomorrow @ 6:30 PM - Lead a More Positive and Fulfilling Life With Meditation

People have been practicing meditation for centuries and today we see a surge in its popularity as new benefits continue to be discovered. It is now recognized how meditation can help the body, mind and spirit. Incorporating meditation into one’s life has many positive effects. Experience for yourself how meditation can change your life. Join Daya Sharma long time meditator who has been inspiring audiences with his engaging workshops. Come learn a simple meditation technique that can be used daily for greater peace, energy, and well-being.The Friends of Freeman Library support this program. 

 

Baby Playtime on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 am

Babies (infants through 18 months old) and their grownups will enjoy hanging out this Friday, May 19 at 10:00 am for Baby Playtime.  This program features board books, toys, bubbles and a cute art project.  The babies will be using their fingerprints to make "spots" on a giraffe craft.   No tickets are needed for this outing.   Special thanks to the Freinds of Freeman Library for supporting this program throughout the years.
 

Open House for Summer Teen Volunteers on Saturday, May 20 @ 2 pm

Teens looking for volunteer time this summer are welcome to drop by the Children's Activity Space on Saturday, May 20 at 2 pm to find out about volunteer opportunities this summer.  There will be a talk of 20 minutes to outline volunteer expectations.  Then teens can put their names down for specific volunteer shifts during the summer.   Parents are welcome to attend.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, May 18 @ 4:30 pm

  Children from babies through 12 years old will enjoy celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage Month at Freeman Library this Thursday, May 18 @ 4:30 pm.   We'll have  crafts, music, activities and foods from a variety of nations in Asia.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Dept. at 4:00 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and others throughout the year.

Senior Adults - Registration Opens Tomorrow @ 10 AM for 6/8 Trip!

Senior Adults -  Registration Opens Tomorrow @ 10 AM for a day trip on Thursday, June 08. The Precinct2gether bus will depart from the Freeman Library parking lot. Please plan for plenty of walking and wear comfortable, rubber-soled shoes.

Join Us for Our 2nd Know Your Muslim Neighbor Event on 5/27!

Freeman Library and the Muslim American Society welcome you to join us for for our second "Know Your Muslim Neighbor Neighbor" Event on Saturday, 5/27 in the Marge Jacobson Community Room. We open the doors at 11:30 AM and invite people of all ages to learn historical facts about Islam and America! Please come, experience, and enjoy:

• Ethnic Food & Refreshments
• Henna Art
• Crafts for the kids
• Write your name in Arabic
• Brief presentations throughout about the Muslim community
• Islamic music
• Try on a Hijab 

Maker Monday features Lego Free Play at 4:30 pm on Monday, May 15

Children 5-12 years old will enjoy attending Maker Monday this Monday, May 15 at 4:30 pm.  This weekly afterschool program for 5-12 years old is starting to wind down for the school year.  We'll have one more after this one before the summer program schedule starts in June.   This week, the children can play with Lego kits to make fun structures.   Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting at 4:00 pm.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous support of this program.

Adults - Please join us Friday morning for our last Tech Q&A Session before Summer! Let's talk about the technology issues concerning you! People from Freeman Library will be here to address questions about desktops/laptops, smartphones, digital tablets, HCPL eMedia, and more.
