With the holidays approaching, join us on Thursday, 11/29 at 7:00 PM in the second floor Conference Room to make colorful cards to send out to your family and friends. Space is limited, please register through the second floor Reference Desk: 832-927-5420. All supplies are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library

Adults - Wednesday, 11/28 @ 7 PM - Kick the Sugar Habit

Valerie Coyle, Certified Health & Life Coach, will discuss: What sugar does in your body, Why we start & can’t stop, and How to transform sugar cravings. She will also talk about high fructose corn syrup, what spikes our blood sugar and creates a ‘blood sugar roller coaster’ and its results on hormone insulin and correlating hormone glucagon. Come and learn 7 solutions to sugar cravings. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 6:00 PM in the first floor Meeting Room.

Adults - HCPL Database Series in November

Adults - Did you know... Harris County Public Library provides members with numerous databases? Also, did you know you can use our databases to do practical and fun things? Find out how! In our November classes, we'll focus on:

  • "Home Improvement Reference Center" on 11/13
  • "Hobbies & Craft Reference Center" on 11/20

Both classes will start at 3:30 PM and will be held in the upstairs Training Lab. Please register Online or by giving the Reference Desk a call @ 832-927-5420.

Adults - Mon. 11/12 - Freeman Mystery Book Group Featuring Peter Spiegelman

 

The Freeman Mystery Book Group is a gathering of mystery book enthusiasts. No registration is required. A new author is chosen each month.

For the November meeting, we will discuss mysteries by author Peter Spiegelman. Read any of his books and come share your thoughts or just tell us what mysteries you've been reading! Check the library catalog to request items or contact the library for assistance.

All Ages Invited - Food Fiesta Night by FM Taco Squad, Monday, 11/12 @ 7 PM

Freeman staff will show the audience how to make delicious dishes. After the demo, attendees will be able to enjoy the prepared food.

This free event will require no registration. The refreshments prepared in this event will be provided by the Friends of Freeman Library and HEB.

Have you always wanted to express yourself by writing a blog but don’t know where to begin? Are you in need of a homepage to promote yourself? In this class, we will learn how to create a basic website using WordPress.com. No prior blogging or web design experience is needed.

Adults - New Crafts-To-Go Kits Are Here!

Adults - stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up a Crafts-To-Go kit. November’s project is a decorative turkey (see picture). This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last. 1 craft kit/adult present.

November Book Club this Wednesday, November 14 @4:30 pm

   Is your tween looking for a good book to read over the upcoming holiday break?  They can join us on Wednesday, November 14 at 4:30 pm for the November Book Club.  This fun monthly program features a book discussion and activity.  This month we will be featuring Beverly Cleary's classic Ribsy.  We will talk about the book and then do a fun craft.   Children are not required to have read the bnok before the program.   This program is recommended for children 8-12 years old.  Tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program.
