Welcome to the new Harris County Public Library website! The update was long overdue. We wanted to create a website that is accessible to people of all literacy levels with a streamlined user experience. That being said, we know it is a big change and you might be wondering where you can find some of the features that your mouse hand knows by heart after years of clicking on the old website.  Rest assured, they are all here, and here is a little guide to using the new HCPL.NET to help you get your bearings.

The main navigation areas are:

Here you will find things to read, watch and listen to in traditional and digital formats, as well as access to our online research tools, collections for kids and young adults and more.

There's a lot going on at HCPL and you will find it all here.

Here you can book a meeting room, find out about adult computer and citizenship classes, 3D printing,  interlibrary loan and HCPL's award-winning Book Hunters reading consultants. In short, if we do it or help you do it better, you will find it under services.

Here you can dig a little deeper into the library and learn more about what we do and why we do it. You will meet our leadership team, see our activities beyond our walls and in your community and find out how you can get involved.

All-in-One Search
One thing you will probably notice is that wherever you go on the website, the big, bright search box is front and center and that is not just any search box. Type any search term, you expect to see catalog results and you do--print books, eBooks, movies, music and more--but with the new all-in-one search you will also see related library events and programs, results from our online research tools and custom content by HCPL writers. All of it presented in easy to scan boxes.

We encourage you to browse around the website like you would any library. We see the development of the website both as an ongoing process--we will continue to work to improve functionality and navigation--and as a collaborative project between Harris County Public Library and you, our patrons. We want to hear from you. Contact Us
