An Election Year Unlike Any Other

We are not telling you anything you do not already know when we say that, thanks to Covid-19, we are all living through some of the most uncertain times in living memory. That uncertainty has seeped into every aspect of daily life. Things we have taken for granted because they are so unchanging have now taken on a different look in light of the Coronavirus, social distancing, and the need to keep our families safe. The upcoming general election on Tuesday, November 3 is no exception.

Harris County Public Library is making every effort to ensure that all Harris County residents who are eligible to vote in the upcoming general election can do so. Due to limited library services necessitated by the pandemic, HCPL has sought new ways to get voter registration materials and information to prospective voters:

  • New online Library Card applicants are provided with a link to the Harris County Tax Office’s Voter Registration Portal.
  • Everyone calling an HCPL branch to schedule a curbside pick-up is offered the option to receive a voter application.

  • Anyone needing assistance completing a voter registration application are invited to use HCPL’s free 1 on 1 Online for individualized help from one of HCPL’s information professionals.

National Voter Registration Day and Beyond: Tuesday, September 22

All HCPL branches will have tables set up to safely offer voter registration materials and assistance starting on National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 22 and will continue through Monday, October 5, the last day to register in Harris County.
