Harris County Public Library is celebrating the contributions of people of Hispanic origin to the cultural vitality of the area with a family-friendly, free Fiesta with a bookish twist. Fiesta @ HCPL will be held Saturday, October 1 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Avenue A Park near the South Houston Branch Library. 

The event will feature special story times by local children’s authors from Arte Público Press, live Latin music performed by Apollo Chamber Players, The Essence of Mexico Dance presented by Young Audiences of Houston, Inprint Houston’s Poetry Buskers, HCPL’s mobile library on wheels, the Curiosity Cruiser, as well as crafts, games, facepainting, educational and community service booths, refreshments and more. 

“Fiesta @ HCPL is about celebrating family and heritage and all the ways that Harris County’s Hispanic community makes it such a vibrant place to live,” says Jennifer Schwartz, HCPL’s Programming Services Manager, “We’re also highlighting how Harris County Public Library and its partners support the community and help it thrive.”

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 – October 15 @ Your Library
