About this Branch

Much of the behind the scenes work of the system takes place here, including Collection Development, Cataloging, Circulation Services. Information Technology and Outreach. Library Director Edward Melton leads a team of Division Directors who oversee all facets of library operations. 

Please note, this building is not a library branch and does not offer regular library services, though it is the home of HCPL's Maker Central Makerspace that may be used by the public by special request.

History

What began in 1921 and the years following as a collection of small libraries housed in stores, post offices and private homes has grown into a system of 26 branch buildings, 2 technology service centers, and 2 partner locations offering collection/circulation services. HCPL operates branches in unincorporated parts of Harris County and cities which do not have their own library systems.
