History
The Tomball Library dates back to the 1920s when it consisted of one bookcase of 200 books in the old Post Office building on Main Street. Sadly, this service ended during the Great Depression. During World War II, the County bookmobile began making stops on Main Street every three weeks. Soon after, a Friends of the Library group was formed to raise money to rent space at 1010 West Main for a real library. As Tomball grew, the library moved to successively larger spaces, first at 500 Elm Street in 1965, then to a space on James Street in 1972. On January 20, 2005, the Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library officially opened its doors to the public.
Meet the Manager
Hi, I'm Kimberly Clutter. I joined HCPL in 2007, but my library journey started much earlier while working as a shelver at my local library during high school. My entire HCPL career has been spent at the LSC-Tomball Community Library, first as the YA Librarian, then as the Assistant Branch Manager-Children's Services, and now as the Director. My library passions are early literacy, intellectual freedom, and readers advisory. In my free time, I love listening to audiobooks on Libby, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
