Have you ever wanted to listen to an audiobook, but didn’t feel like changing out 19 CDs to hear Jeffrey Deaver’s latest nail biter? Well, don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Electronic, or digital, audiobooks have made listening as easy as a few simple clicks. If you’re using a smartphone or tablet, simply download OverDrive’s latest app, Libby, to get started. Choose your library, enter your library card number, borrow, and listen. It’s that easy. On your desktop or laptop computer? No problem, login to hcpl.overdrive.com, borrow, and listen.
Don’t forget, audiobooks are not just for grownups. HCPL provides thousands of audio titles for teens and children to enjoy with their own dedicated Overdrive collections. Audiobooks are also a great tool for helping young or developing readers increase their literacy skills. Listening helps readers with pronunciation, vocabulary building, and articulation. Plus, reluctant readers benefit from narrators bringing stories to life.1
Please note: HCPL is not responsible for higher than normal gas bills resulting from additional time driving around the neighborhood because the audiobook has suddenly reached “a really good part.”

How do I get this number to check out audio books?
You will use your HCPL library card number and PIN to log in and check out audiobooks from RBdigital or any of our other online content services. If you do not have a card yet, you can apply for an iKnow Digital Access Card that will allow you instant access to all of our online content including RBdigital audiobooks and OverDrive audiobooks. Here is the online application: https://www.hcpl.net/services/iknow-card
The link to sign up does not seem to be working. Please advise.
Hello, I am sorry you were not able to open the iKnow Card application link. I have tried it on three different browsers and it open successfully on all three though with Firefox it seemed to take a strangely long time. With Chrome and Safari it opened in a blink. I have sent your message to our Web Services team for investigation. Please try again using this link: https://www.hcpl.net/services/iknow-card and let me know if you are still unable to access it.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
